Goodnight Broadway

Listen! Marin Mazzie and the Next to Normal company sign program S and pose for pix with audience members at the stage door - Booth Theatre, Shubert Alley Broadway. This is typical of the generosity of artists here in the theatre community.

Modern Woman - 50 Years On

A little b&w hommage to that scene in Breakfast At Tiffany's, the first in the film and shot 50 years ago next month outside the iconic 5th Avenue store.

Not a croissant as Holly had, but a doughnut - the lust object a very special handbag.

Peace and Progress at Ground Zero

Just occasionally, the gods of Posterous let one go by. Thus it has been with a podcast I did from Ground Zero yesterday. Perhaps it's not Posterous but the Audioboo gods that slipped up, as the boo I recorded yesterday didn't make it here. So, dear reader, here's the link to the boo which the kind people at Audioboo featured yesterday - most gratifying. http://audioboo.fm/Dramagirl You will also find another that slipped through earlier this week (Broadway on Broadway Boo) on my Audioboo page. Cupcakes & Malties & Boots - oh my!

Excuse my laziness in updating! Between cracking insomnia & Manhattan madness ( my answer to Bali belly) I have been the Mayor of Struggle Town! But fret not - after some serious retail therapy I feel my strength returning followed swiftly by my need to blog!

New York is ... Wonderful, loud, sometimes oppressive but always exciting. Whether eating half a cow in Carnegies Deli or pressing my little face up to the windows of the designer giants on 5th Avenue this City has one surprise after another where ever we go!

Central Park - beautiful, serene, full of cheeky grey squirrels & if you're lucky a winsome little red one or two... Mum & I have dubbed all the red ones 'Julia'...it blew my mind that such a gentle, relaxing space could be so notorious for crime! There's a castle, a lake, a baseball diamond, tourists by the mile (I don't view Mum or I as tourists - we are much too polite & friendly & don't yap yap YAP like chihuahuas on speed...you know who you are)...and I only saw a wee bit of the park! Mind blowingly beautiful & like the rest of NYC - safe - if you use your brain!!

Today Mum & I went to the West Village to visit Amy & her gorgeous Maltese Ricky. We were treated (bless you Amy) to what I believe is THE best cupcake of this trip so far! A wonderful little place called Sweet Revenge where all the cupcakes are matched, married & shacked up with their alcoholic counter part...whilst a wee bit early for me to drink I did indulge is a cupcake...simply called 'Pure'. An incredible concoction of Mexican vanilla & butter cream the treat was white, sweet, fluffy, more-ish & left me with a big grin... A lot like Ricky!

SHOPPING! It does not get any better than this & with our Aussie dollar steadily climbing it would be a crime had I not bought the black, leather, 6 inch, thigh high boots this afternoon! Not to mention the Superman blue, quilted handbag, cream suede slouchy boots, black leather pants & some necessaries from Victorias Secret...yes... I do heart New York!

More later!
